FSBU 9/2025: revenue by stage of completion becomes mandatory for all companies
Under FSBU 9/2025, recognising revenue by stage of completion becomes mandatory for all companies, not only for contractors under long-term construction contracts.
Accounting under PBU 9/99 and PBU 2/2008
Recognising revenue by stage of completion is mandatory for contractors and subcontractors under long-term construction contracts. For other contracts, it is an option for the organisation.
Accounting under FSBU 9/2025
Recognising revenue by stage of completion becomes mandatory for all companies when:
- under the terms of the contract, the obligation to transfer products to the counterparty is performed over a period longer than one reporting period;
- the extent to which the obligation to transfer products to the counterparty has been performed can be measured.
What to do before 1 January 2027
- identify the contracts continuing into 2027 for which revenue must be recognised by stage of completion;
- calculate the adjustments to be recorded in the accounts and financial statements on transition to FSBU 9/2025.
